Who am I?

Let me tell you, my friend… this is a great question.

I’ve been asking myself this existential question for years, and only recently have I reached a conclusion. At first, it may sound trivial, but if you think deeply about it, it’s really not.

The answer to “Who am I?” is very simple:

I am what I am.

You, me, them—we are all unique in the universe, and even though we’re bound by species, we are beings unto ourselves.

Every creature in the universe is unique and special.

I’ve been thinking about something lately: so many human beings are unhappy. I’m 22 years old, and I want to direct this thought mainly to my peers. Their unhappiness stems from a deep sense of uselessness in relation to society and its ideals. Feeling small and lost, individuals look for identity in designer clothes or in mediocre music that talks about nothing but sex, drugs, and violence.

People, unable to answer the primal question (Who am I?), indulge in vulgarity and get lost in vices and desires, never finding an answer and remaining unhappy in the depths of their souls.

Sorry for the outburst, but you know, I’ve experienced these things myself and I think sharing them is an important source of reflection.

Well, now you know—if someone asks you who you are, just say your name, haha. Don’t go on with a speech like this one I gave you.

“Unless you’re with the right person to say it to—but that, only you will know.”

But I ask you one favor: when you answer with your name, remember my words. Remember that even a name is just a mere label that doesn’t truly answer the question “Who are you?”

Never forget who you really are—yourself, and nothing else.
